Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings to you, to your family, and to your congregational family of faith as you make the transition between spring and summer there in the US.
Here is our latest missionary update. It includes some troubling news on the COVID pandemic in Costa Rica, as well as AMMPARO news on the latest wave of migrant children and families in Central America and Mexico.
By this point in 2021, we had hoped to be able to start organizing visits to some of our missionary sponsorship congregations in the US. While the COVID situation seems to be improving in the US, we have a long way to go here in Central America (as described in the attached update). Given the unpredictability of current circumstances, we would prefer to wait a little longer before planning a trip back to the US.
Nevertheless, we do have alternatives. During the past year, we all have had to learn new ways to remain connected virtually via platforms like Skype, Zoom, etc. I imagine that you've gone through the same learning process at home, at school, at work, at church, etc.
This raises the possibility of a "virtual missionary visit". If you think this would be of interest to members of your church, please let me know so that we can begin exploring the possibilities together.
Hope to hear from you soon. In the meantime, be safe and stay healthy.
Stephen & Marta
